Extracting Key Words from Picture Books to Reveal Attractive Topics Based on Text Mining Technology

Picture books are the synthesis of literature and art, which can bring children a “systematic cognition” and make children have a preliminary understanding of the unknown world through clever text narration or image guidance. However, creating a picture book is a process that consumes time and energy. The creative inspiration of picture books is not easy to burst, and how to properly draw pictures that are easy for children to understand is not easy. In this study, we collected a corpus and employed text mining technology. Through this process, we identified important keywords, conducted statistical analysis on article scores, and sorted the data. Eventually, 200 key words were selected for further analysis. Additionally, we chose two articles for in-depth examination and interpretation. And we used word clouds to show the key words of the article. The findings of this study confirmed that text mining technology is capable of accurately extracting significant words that reveal the themes and general ideas of picture books. Moreover, it demonstrated the potential of text mining technology to offer guidance and assistance to other picture book writers.
