摘要

Wearable and wireless systems enable the opportunity for a uniquely subject specific exercise strategy, such as eccentric strength training, that is substantiated with objective quantification through Virtual Proprioception. The concept of Virtual Proprioception involves visually quantified feedback based on an inertial sensor, such as a gyroscope. This evolution of Virtual Proprioception for eccentric strength training for weightlifting, such as through a conventional dumbbell, is facilitated by wearable and wireless systems. Eccentric strength training with Virtual Proprioception using a conformal wearable with real-time feedback of its gyroscope signal is demonstrated for a biceps curl. Additionally, Virtual Proprioception for eccentric strength training for a shoulder press is exhibited by using a smartphone. These eccentric strength training scenarios enabled by Virtual Proprioception are distinguished relative to their associated standard strength training routines through machine learning.
