The Waste Land of Love
摘要
With The Waste LandWaste land, The, T.S. EliotEliot, T.S. meditates on the disillusionment of contemporary life in which the devastation of the war sparks new questions about the role Europe played in history. The vision of cities falling down, creates a sense of cultural decay that EliotEliot, T.S. discloses by describing the misery of sexual relationships. The sterility of the imagery, the barren landscape, the monosyllabic and abstract language speak for a generation that has lost soul and meaning. Thus, The Waste LandWaste land, The is also a play within a play, a long history of violence against women, a cruel and honest reconstruction of how courtship rituals disintegrate into different forms of prostitution.
