Analyzing Techno-economic Feasibility on Advanced Technologies in Biorefineries
摘要
In an era marked by growing environmental concerns, resource scarcity, and the need for sustainable energy solutions, biorefineries have emerged as promising sustainable platforms for converting biomass into a variety of valuable products. Biorefineries can be classified according to their raw materials (and their generations), motivation (production of bioenergy or bioproducts), conversion process and platforms (intermediate products). Despite several studies in the literature and the development of technologies that add value to biomass and its products, studies of techno-economic analysis of these processes are necessary to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of the process, generate valuable information for process improvements, in order to promote the development of a sustainable bioeconomy. This chapter provides a brief overview of conversion of the technologies used for conversion in biorefineries and identifies in the literature the most recent works of techno-economic analysis of biorefineries. A wide range of works showed the feasibility of different biorefineries, showing that these facilities are promising and play an important role in the world context.
