摘要

The immense biodiversity of Indonesia has provided a home to a broad range of medicinal plants, which have been used for years to cure various illnesses, including skin disorders. This chapter investigates the astonishing diversity of medicinal plants found in Indonesia and their potential for treating skin diseases, with a few examples of essential medicinal plants in Indonesia and the related information in treating skin disorders such as Centella asiatica (L.) Urb., Tinospora crispa (L.) Hook. f. & Thomson, and Andrographis paniculata (Burm. f.) Wall. ex Nees. Using these medicinal plants in modern healthcare systems could provide sustainable and alternative approaches to addressing skin health concerns, benefiting Indonesians and people worldwide looking for natural and effective remedies for skin disorders. As interest in traditional medicine and natural cures grows, it becomes increasingly important to support conservation efforts that conserve Indonesia’s unique biodiversity for sustainable use, particularly for future generations.
