Transition with Dignity

This chapter opens with a possibility-based discussion whereby each of the young adults’ transitions is reconsidered through the lens of the capability approach. Description of key themes shared between the cases include: (a) dignity of risk, or the right to make one’s own decisions despite reasonable hazards, and (b) trailing, or exploring more inclusive opportunities that align with an individual’s capability set. Together, addressing dignity in post-school transition practices can lead to a genuine opportunity for all.
