Characteristics of Electric Field of Rocket-Triggered Lightning

The close RS electric field waveforms are very useful for studying lightning physics. Rubenstein et al. reported in detail the parameters of 31 electric field waveforms of triggered lightning RSs measured at 500 m at KSC, Florida in 1986 and presented two electric field waveforms measured at 30 m (propagation path is seawater). Rakov et al. analyzed the concept of residual electric field and the possible reason for its occurrence based on the triggered lightning electric field waveforms measured at 15 and 30 m at Camp Blanding, Florida in 1999–2001. They suggested that it might be due to the small branches near the leader tip. Qie et al. reported the electric field waveforms at 60 and 550 m for 10 triggered lightning RSs measured at Shandong, China from 2005 to 2007.
