Culture is a vital aspect of human development, and education should incorporate local cultural content in textbooks, such as secondary school English textbooks. Teachers play a crucial role in character-building learning and should incorporate multicultural education and value education in history learning. This study aims to identify cultural elements in English textbooks from the KEMENDIKBUD (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology) for secondary school 7–9th grade. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method, focusing on text and images containing cultural elements. The analysis reveals four elements of local culture in the textbook: the existence of social organizations in nuclear families and communities, a system of living equipment and technology in images of daggers, food, clothing, and bags, art in the form of angklung as a musical tool and “Tangkuban Perahu” narrative as a folklore, and a religious system in images using Muslim culture. These components suggest that the KEMENDIKBUD English textbooks for secondary school students reflect aspects of Indonesian culture.
