摘要

The policies and attitudes adopted by colonisers with respect to the native population undergo serious changes depending upon the concrete situation of the ground. In this chapter, we will focus on the use and abuse of anthropology by the administrators for the consolidation of colonial rule in the hills. This aspect of colonization was built on the initial work done by the surveyors and explorers in the Naga hills and its peripheries; it consolidated what was achieved earlier in the form of data.
