Laying the Foundation: Surveyors in the Naga Hills
摘要
The initial periods when an established power extends or tries to extend its hold over new and unchartered territories, it never does so in one go. It has to be circumspect in its approach and circumnavigate through different channels to know the land before it does something adventurous. In this chapter, we have covered those initial periods of British expansion into the north-eastern regions of India especially Naga hills by highlighting the important exploratory and survey undertaken by individuals, affiliated directly or indirectly with the British administration.
