Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of a Crab Shell Hybrid Composite
摘要
In present days, composite materials have huge demand in many industries like automobile, marine, and aerospace industries. Due to this, weight can be reduced and also the strength can also be increased. In this work, main effort was taken to reduce the environment pollution. Crab shell is actually a sea food biowaste, it is naturally abundant, and it is also a sustainable resource. The main drawback of these shells is that they do not have feasible solubility, thus resulting in environmental pollution. To avoid such situation, these shells can be used for other purposes. So, hybrid material specimens with the combination of crab shell powder along with natural fiber flax jute and artificial fiber GFRP are used to prepare five types of specimens with varying different weight percentages using hand layup technique and maintained standards according to experimental testing. Tensile, compressive, flexural, hardness, and cutting process was performed experimentally. Also test results got compared with reference articles. The mechanical properties are high in the crab shell powder composites.
