摘要

This work studies the effect of flat surface thickness during air jet impingement cooling of circular cross-sections. The article discusses the above problem with constraint parameters of jet Reynolds number (Red = 2300) and nozzle to flat plate distance (h/d = 6) for flat plate thickness of (t/d) of 0–1 and for the transient time of 1–5 s. The results were obtained in the form of Nusselt number distribution at the radial location of the plate. The results compare the distribution for different plate thicknesses at a particular time and for a different time at a particular thickness. As the jet impingement starts, the Nusselt number increases initially and remains constant after a few seconds. It was also noted that the Nusselt number for thick plates (t/d = 0.5 − 1) remained lower than that of a thin plate (t/d = 0).
