Influence of Track Width, Wheel Base on Turning Radius and Static Behavior of Stub Axle, C-Clamp in Go-Karts Steering System
摘要
The steering system is a crucial component in guiding motor vehicles along the road, interpreting the driver’s intended path. It plays a vital role in enhancing the handling and stability of vehicles, complementing other significant aspects such as the engine, transmission, and body. This paper aims to study the role of wheel base and track width, how it impacts on turning radius and structural behavior of stub axle and c-clamp under the load conditions. The study considers diverse wheelbase and track width configurations adhering to the standards set by major Society of Automobile Engineers events conducted in India and internationally. Through analytical calculations, the optimal turning radius is determined. Additionally, 3D models are generated using computer-aided design (CAD) software, and their structural behavior is assessed using finite element analysis (FEA) software.
