The Physicochemical Properties of Pure Water Treated by DBD Reactor Packed with Porous Foam Ceramic

Plasma activated water (PAW) has excellent biochemical activity and high bactericidal performance, which is an important application of atmospheric discharge plasma in biomedical field. In this work, a method for preparing DBD plasma activated water based on porous foam ceramic packed was proposed. The effects of pore size of porous foam ceramic, applied voltage and water flow rate on discharge characteristics were investigated. Physical and chemical parameters such as pH value, electrical conductivity value and concentration of H2O2, NO2−, NO3− were measured in PAW. The results show that packing porous foam ceramic in DBD can effectively reduce the discharge threshold and increase the content of reactive nitrogen oxides in PAW. At the same time, it was found that the content of H2O2 and other substances in PAW obtained from foam ceramics with a pore of 10ppi was the highest. This study provides a basis for the design of plasma activated water device and the method of increasing the concentration of reactive nitrogen oxides.
