Influence of Different Square Resistances of DC Support Capacitor Components on Their Self-healing and Withstand Voltage Performance

As the key equipment of DC converter valve in flexible DC transmission, DC support capacitor mainly plays the role of voltage support and harmonic filtering, which requires it to be safe, reliable and resistant to high breakdown voltage. As an important parameter of capacitor, the square resistance of metallized film is related to the self-healing and withstand voltage performance of capacitor. In this paper, three kinds of square resistance metallized film capacitor components are selected to carry out ESR, self-healing test, limit voltage withstand test and other experimental studies. The experimental results show that the high square resistance capacitor has good self-healing and withstand voltage performance, but its ESR will also increase. It is necessary to comprehensively consider the selection of capacitor square resistance range.
