Toward Modern Democratic Society in Japan

Challenging and re-challenging are important for any individual. Encouraging environment and institutional reward system are sufficient conditions for it. Conformity in Japan needs to be reconsidered to promote social reforms and systemic reformations in many aspects, with maintaining social cohesiveness. The young generations are encouraged to take part in this reformation. The social system has to engage in high degree of mobility, in more diversity, equity and inclusivity, and competitiveness with collaborative arrangements. Spiral staircases structure of independent individuals, as an imagination for new society, is introduced, with the first floor being the infrastructure and the second floor as the society supported by the spiral staircases. Respecting strong and resilient individual is the key for the new society. Matrix chart to build a warm society is shown, in three-by-three matrix with eight radiant spokes from the target in the center. Japan’s education system needs new mechanisms different from the old standard-deviation number, and the schools should teach students the joy of sciences.
