摘要

Several medicines have been utilized and prepared for the treatment of various health problems. However, looking beyond the synthetic synthesis of medicinal preparations, plants serve as a source of diverse compounds that hold great significance for human health. Plants produce a variety of secondary compounds that exhibit properties beneficial not only to the plants themselves but also to other creatures. Nevertheless, the quantity of such plant products cannot meet the ever-growing requirements. Therefore, these plant natural products can be exploited for the large-scale production of these beneficial compounds. There are various traditional methods that have been deployed for the production of plant natural products, along with certain limitations. In the modern era, advancements in the field of engineering have led to the development of various techniques that have proven beneficial and have created milestones in optimizing production of plant natural products. This chapter will highlight certain techniques, including metabolic engineering, culturing, etc., to discuss the applications of such techniques, and showcase advancements made using these techniques in the production of secondary metabolites.
