The Future for Vulnerable Child Brides

The Syrian refugee crisis remains the largest displacement crisis in the world (World Vision, in Syrian refugee crisis: facts, FAQs, and how to help, 2023 [36]). Significant concentrations of vulnerable Syrian refugees seeking asylum in neighbouring states has placed a high demand on host states such as Jordan, impacting the quality of services and exacerbating “pre-existing socioeconomic disparities” in the host nation (United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in Syrian refugees [2019–2020 report] 2019, [20], p. 1). In addition to facing high levels of economic insecurity as the locals of the host-nation, Syrian refugees are also faced with the additional daily challenge of securing basic needs and accessing essential services and facilities because of their legal status.
