Introduction: The Middle East Refugee Diaspora and Its Liminality

Human history is deeply rooted in diaspora (Bae et al. in Science 358(6368), 2017 [5]). Although history has often represented change and migration as inevitable cultural phenomena, particularly with the advent of large-scale globalisation, the physical uprooting and exodus of populations is perhaps occurring now in the twenty-first century more than ever before.
