Methodology Advancements for Bulk Production and Commercialization of Graphene and Its Derivatives

Graphene, a 2-D material made up of carbon atoms arranged in a lattice resembling a hexagon, has received significant attention due to its extraordinary qualities and prospective uses in a variety of sectors. However, considering the high expenses and complexity of the synthesis processes, the bulk production and commercialization of graphene and its derivatives continue to be a challenge. In recent times, significant advancement is being performed in establishing novel approaches for the bulk production and commercialization of graphene and its derivatives. Roll-to-roll manufacturing, optimized chemical vapour deposition (CVD) techniques, laser-assisted synthesis, exfoliation by chemical means utilizing ionic fluids, hybrid approaches, and green synthesis are a few of these developments. These techniques hold the promise of generating high-grade graphene and its derivatives in significant numbers, with superior qualities, and at a reduced cost. In this article, we cover the most recent developments in this area as well as the state-of-the-art techniques for producing graphene and its derivatives in large quantities for commercial use. We also discuss each approach's strengths and weaknesses, as well as the way they might impact applications in various ways. For graphene and its derivatives to reach their full potential in a variety of industries, including electronics, energy storage, and healthcare, efficient and affordable procedures must be developed for their bulk production and commercialization.
