Outdoor Environment and Health Promotion
摘要
This chapter provides global knowledge on the interrelationship between healthy behavior, urban outdoor settings, and health promotion, intending to inform urban planners, health promotion experts, academics, and policymakers on the present state of literature. Research continually reveals that outdoor surroundings are essential in encouraging physical exercise, social contact, and healthy eating habits, all of which have considerable health advantages. These results highlight the significance of including outdoor spaces in health promotion initiatives, which aligns with SDG 3’s emphasis on ensuring healthy lifestyles and fostering well-being. This chapter first presents a summary of the common perspectives engaged in the exploration of outdoor environments; thereafter, terminologies of outdoor environments characteristics frequently used in research are discussed as well as empirical studies on outdoor environments, healthy behaviors, and health outcomes.
