摘要

Polymer composites have recently increased substantial attention due to their exceptional characteristics and a broad range of practical applicability. Especially, they have shown great potential in the domain of electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. The term “EMI” stands for electromagnetic interference, which may have a negative influence on the functionality of electronic systems and devices. This chapter seeks to present a comprehensive summary of the most advanced and up-to-date polymer composites used for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding applications. Since wireless communication is the norm in modern times, interference and disarray between different electromagnetic waves are the main problems. To reduce cross-talk between electronic equipment, effective shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI) waves using complex materials becomes an important research topic. The research community places significant importance on systems that provide good shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI) due to the rapid progress in electronics and telecommunications in contemporary times. To accomplish electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE), one can utilize polymer composites that seamlessly integrate metals, ceramics, and carbons. This chapter explores the mechanism of EMI shielding and provides an overview of the current research on polymer-based composite materials specifically designed for EMI shielding. The main goal of this chapter is to present an in-depth review of the potential and developments in polymer-based EMI shielding composites, with a precise emphasis on assessing the materials’ shielding efficiency (SE).
