Critiquing the Limitations’ Challenges in Detecting GAN-Generated Images with Computer Vision

Thanks to the emergence of sophisticated algorithms, computers are now capable of producing images that are nearly identical to photographs captured by a human. Although this technology has expanded the potential in areas such as entertainment and design, it has also prompted concerns regarding the credibility of pictures we come across on the internet and in the media. With the ongoing advancement of computers, the distinction between reality and artificiality is becoming less clear. Consequently, it is becoming more crucial for us to comprehend and evaluate the images that encompass our environment in a discerning manner. This paper aims to determine the ability of computers to detect the authenticity of images generated by other computers. Occasionally, individuals employ computers to generate visually convincing images that are, in fact, artificial. We employed various computer tools to assess their efficacy in detecting these counterfeit images. We discovered that these computer technologies were not consistently effective. This study demonstrates the difficulty that computers encounter in detecting counterfeit graphics generated by other computers.
