Role of Lifestyle Pattern and Soil Microbiome Interaction of Arthrobotrys Species for the Biostimulant Production

摘要

Although having an impact on a variety of processes like decomposition and nutrient cycling, the soil community is frequently neglected in research that link plant diversification with ecosystem performance. The relationship between the composition of the plant and soil communities has not been well investigated, however, there have been a few regular patterns found. Nematophagous fungi are one such inhabitant that has the potential to be used as biocontrol agent. The different species belongs to the genus Arthrobotrys has widely been employed to regulate the productivity loss created by the nematodes. Despite the potential nematotoxicity, it has not been involved in the commercialization because of the poor understanding towards its lifestyle change and metabolic activities. Nevertheless the use of improved genetic engineering techniques for improving its biocontrol efficacy, poor understanding on the molecular mechanism of pathogenicity has not allowed its improvement in commercialization. Therefore, this chapter discusses the mechanisms and factors responsible for the trap formation of biocontrol fungus Arthrobotrys and also highlights the plant growth potential of this fungus.
