This book chapter delves into the necessity of creating an inclusive FinTech landscape in the South Mediterranean region, drawing valuable insights from the European experience. Building on research outputs from the region, including studies by the Med MSMEs program, it analyzes strategies and programs focused on financial inclusion and FinTech initiatives for women. Based on a feminist analysis, data triangulation confirmed the limited efforts toward the creation of an inclusive FinTech industry in the region. The chapter enriches the ongoing discourse on gender inclusivity in FinTech by offering a comprehensive and context-specific understanding of the challenges women face in the industry and highlights several key barriers, including limited access to finance, insufficient digital literacy, and cultural biases that hinder women’s participation in the FinTech sector. The chapter aims to inspire inclusive governance and transformative practices in the South Mediterranean FinTech sector that can leverage the full potential of all its stakeholders based on networking and experience sharing from the European market.
