The Potential of Applying VR Technology in Petrochemical Fire Rescue Training

In the production environment of a petrochemical company, fire can cause enormous damage. Firefighters as emergency service providers need to receive extensive rescue training to cope with the severe challenges of the working environment. With the rapid development of virtual reality technology in several research areas, it is becoming a popular application in the training field. This study reviews the potential of virtual reality in petrochemical firefighting training and establishes a virtual petrochemical safety training system. By summarizing the cases of virtual reality in the firefighting field, its development in the petrochemical field is discussed in depth, including simulation studies, relevant cases, and so on. The research results effectively solve the difficulties faced in fire and rescue training.
