Evaluation of Group Chats Using Exploratory Data Analysis

In this digital era, the Internet has taken over the world, and most of the communication take place over emails or messaging application based on Internet. WhatsApp is one of them, which is leading the market and has become a part of everyone’s daily life. Every single person is connected to the network of friends, family, news, and entertainment through digital media. From formal to informal communications, WhatsApp has almost replaced the legacy messaging system. With the huge usage of this application, an ample amount of data is generated day by day. These data can be converted into insights and can be utilized efficiently. This research study deals with the model which is capable of performing exploratory data analysis on group chat. Hence, an exploratory data analysis on different group chats on a social platform is proposed in this research work. There is the use of different Python libraries like pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, and emoji library to analyze the data. For dataset and implementation, the chat is extracted from the unofficial WhatsApp group of undergraduate students which has 60 students and contains their conversations on different topics. The model is capable of analysis irrespective of agenda. For a better understanding of the data analysis, there is also the use of different data visualization tools and libraries of Python like matplotlib and wordcloud. The results of this study are effective to understand the context of the language used and the use of group chats for communication and discussions.
