Nanofibers for the Management of Allergic Airway Disease
摘要
A subset of airway illnesses known as allergic airway disease or allergic respiratory disease is characterized by heightened immunological reactions to particular allergens. The process of allergy starts with the entry of allergen into the airways, which triggers the immunogenic reaction though several processes and may cause several pathological morbidities including inflammation. Treating allergic responses in airways is the biggest challenge as the formulation is exposed to several physiological challenges such as mucociliary clearance and continuous contraction and dilatation of respiratory muscles. In this challenging context, nanofibers show multiple potentials not only as a prominent carrier system for therapeutic substances but also as an efficient protective system in devices. This chapter highlights the several applications of nanofibers in the management of allergic diseases associated with the respiratory tract.
