摘要

This research paper presents a systematic method for mitigating power losses in distribution systems, particularly addressing the issue prevalent in India where distribution losses range from 20 to 25%. The core objective is to optimize the placement and sizing of distributed generation (DG) units, such as photovoltaic (PV) modules, to achieve this goal. To accomplish this, the study employs an optimization algorithm known as the “Imperialist Competitive Algorithm” (ICA). To validate the effectiveness of this approach, the research utilizes a standard IEEE 33-bus test system, varying the penetration levels of DG units. The obtained results from applying the ICA methodology are then compared with outcomes derived from other optimization techniques utilized in prior studies. This comparative analysis is conducted to showcase the superior performance and robustness of the ICA approach.
