PBFT Consensus Mechanism for Human Resource Offboarding Procedures Based on Blockchain Technology

Blockchain technology has garnered considerable attention for its potential to transform various industries, including the realm of human resources (HR). This article suggests a novel blockchain-based offboarding framework that employs the Practical Byzantine Fault Tolerance (PBFT) consensus mechanism to elevate HR offboarding procedures. The objective is to streamline and fortify the offboarding process, addressing longstanding challenges such as negative employee experiences, inadequate analytics, scalability issues, audit deficiencies, lack of accountability, knowledge transfer gaps, visibility constraints, and reliance on individual expertise. The proposed framework harnesses the decentralized and immutable characteristics of blockchain to establish a transparent and auditable offboarding system. By leveraging PBFT, a consensus algorithm renowned for its high throughput and fault tolerance, the framework ensures the validity and integrity of HR-related transactions. This consensus mechanism allows network nodes to unanimously agree on the order and legitimacy of offboarding events, instilling trust and thwarting malicious activities. Additionally, the blockchain-based offboarding framework enhances data privacy and security by incorporating cryptographic techniques like digital signatures and encryption. This safeguards sensitive information, including personal and employment-related data, ensuring confidentiality while remaining accessible only to authorized entities. To assess the efficacy of the proposed framework, a proof-of-concept implementation was executed, showcasing its capacity to manage a substantial volume of transactions while upholding consensus among network participants. The outcomes indicate that the PBFT consensus mechanism markedly improves the efficiency and reliability of HR offboarding processes compared to conventional centralized systems. This research underscores the transformative potential of blockchain technology and the PBFT consensus mechanism in reshaping HR offboarding procedures. By augmenting transparency, fostering positive transitions, bolstering security, and enhancing efficiency, organizations can optimize their offboarding processes, thereby improving organizational continuity, consistency, and productivity, ultimately fostering trust between employers and employees.
