DriveHarmony: An AI-Based Safety Assistant Driving System
摘要
Road safety has been a concern for public and governments across the globe. Statistics show that more than a million people lose their lives annually due to road traffic accidents, and millions more get injured globally. Though different safety technologies have been developed in some modern vehicles to help cope with this issue, most vehicles on roads currently are not equipped with such features. To help mitigate this problem, we propose a solution that is based on machine learning and can fit into any vehicle regardless of its size, age, or model. Our proposed solution includes three subsystems. The first component (AIsys) tries to integrate voice activation towards old machines and acts according to the user’s input. The second element (DrowsDet) checks whether the driver is distracted or drowsy while driving as those factors significantly increase the risk of involvement in a crash. The last subsystem (HarmonyCall) allows the system to call the authorities according to the input of the user, or automatically if the system detects an issue with the driver. The device aims to reduce the occurrence and consequences of road traffic accidents by helping drivers stay awake and focused on the road or advise them to stop for rest otherwise. All three subsystems work synchronously together to attain the highest efficiency possible. The proposed solution has been tested and evaluated in real life. The obtained results are promising and prove the effectiveness of the solution.
