Double-Barrel Ballistic Setup for Controlled Sequential Launch of Supercavitating Strikers from Immersed Barrels

The work considers the peculiarities of a double-barrel ballistic setup with a launching system for simultaneous or non-simultaneous sequential launch of two supercavitating strikers underwater. Research is carried out with barrels installed in the water part of the track. At the same time, special attention was paid to keeping the barrels immersed in water “dry”, which made it possible to preserve the reproducibility of the interior ballistic characteristics of the shot for each barrel. The stand provides the ability to change the distance between the barrels. A launching system with time adjustment of the charge initiation in the barrels has been developed in the range from 0 to 10 ms. Experimental dependencies of pressure in the charging chamber over time are presented in the work for launching strikers from two barrels. Video frames of experimental studies of simultaneous charge initiation and with a delay of 3.0 ms are shown. As a result of the experiments, a corresponding difference in the time of departure of the striker from the barrel was obtained: 0.055 and 3.278 ms.
