Preliminary Study of the Effect Deflecting the Jet at Cold Spraying

In this work, we investigated the possibility of deflecting a particle-bearing heated gas jet by a cold gas jet located perpendicularly. Numerical studies carried out using the ANSYS Fluent software for calculating gas-dynamic processes showed that small-sized copper particles (approx. 10–50 μm) moving in a heated gas jet change their trajectory after passing through the jet collision zone and, subsequently, fly out supersonic jet and move to the side. The numerical simulation results were confirmed by experimental investigation – coating track displacement was detected.
