Application of a Combined Charging Scheme in a Model Shooting System
摘要
The development of the latest armour protection technologies requires internal ballistics to develop new modernised barrel systems with increased muzzle energy of thrown elements. Classic methods of increasing muzzle velocity have already been largely studied and have fundamental limitations, therefore, the article suggests paying attention to unconventional methods. The work considers the possibility of applying a combined charging scheme by including model paste-like propellant into the composition of the propellant charge, located as the upper half charge. This modernization makes it possible to increase the total mass of the propellant charge and the energy of the shot in general. The authors conducted a theoretical parametric study to increase the muzzle velocity of the projectile in a model shooting installation. The gas dynamic pattern of the shot is considered for both the classical charging scheme and the combined charging scheme using model propellant. The results of calculations using the software package are given with explanations. Recommendations for modernizing the shot in a large-caliber model smoothbore shooting system are formed.
