Methods of Velocity Registration on Ballistic Tracks and Determination of Basic Ballistic Characteristics of a Flying Object

摘要

This study considers the issue of registering the velocity of a thrown object on a ballistic track and determining the fundamental ballistic characteristics of the flying object. The work studies the principal methods of velocity registration for a thrown object on a ballistic track, along with their advantages and disadvantages. A conclusion is made regarding the most effective method for registering the velocity of a thrown object under the conditions of the track used. Along with that, the operation principle and arrangement of the ballistic track, as well as the equipment used to obtain experimental data, are considered. Experimental results necessary for determining the coefficient of aerodynamic drag for thrown objects of various masses, shapes, and sizes are obtained. Data analysis is conducted, leading to conclusions about the correlation between the experimentally received coefficients and the mass, shape, and size of the investigated objects. The nature of these correlations is determined. A modification of the existing ballistic track is offered by replacing the throwing device with a larger caliber one, enabling the consideration of a wider range of shapes for thrown objects in experiments.
