Simulating and Analyzing the Flat Corner Cube Reflectors for Automotive Safety to Comply with US SAE and EU ECE Regulations

In order to enter the global traffic safety reflective signs market, it is essential to create a flat corner cube reflectors that can meet both the US SAE and EU ECE regulations. The main distinction between the two standards is the observation angle and the reflector value of the meter, with the US SAE regulation having an observation angle of 0.2 degrees and the EU ECE regulation having an observation angle of 0.33 degrees. By using software such as SolidWorks, TracePro, Speos, LightTools and Optiswork, the flat corner cube reflectors can be optimized so as to maximize the reflection efficiency, which is determined by the arrangement of the pins in the reflector that are set in one direction. The results demonstrate that within the same flat cube reflector design, this innovative design is its ability to conform to both the US SAE (US Society of Automotive Engineers) standard and the EU ECE (Economic Commission for Europe) standard. This dual compliance has the potential to result in cost savings in the production of reflex reflectors for both the European and American automobile markets.
