Modified Piecewise Droop Control Scheme for Photovoltaic System in Islanded DC Microgrid

To enhance the reliability of the power system, it is essential to develop an energy-sharing algorithm that aligns with the generating capacity of a parallel generator. As a result, the linear droop and piecewise droop control algorithms are regarded as promising methods for regulating the output of distributed generators. Compared to the linear droop, the piecewise droop control has many advantages such as smaller voltage deviation and higher current-sharing accuracy. Nevertheless, the conventional method frequently falls short of achieving the maximum power capacity of the photovoltaic system. To address this limitation, the study presents a control method that integrates the Perturb and Observe algorithm into the modified Piecewise droop control scheme. The utilization of the Perturb and Observe algorithms facilitates both grid power sharing and maximum power point tracking of photovoltaic systems. The simulation results are thoroughly examined to validate the efficiency and effectiveness of the combined maximum power point tracking method.
