Power Optimizationi a Radial Power Distribution System by Using Loop Power Flow Controller and Meta-Heuristic

摘要

Looping the feeders in the power distribution system with a series power electronic system to control power flow obtains outstanding benefits in terms of eliminating the effects of load unbalancing and line congestion. An energy management system (EMS) is used to deliver optimal commands to the loop power controller (LPC). Here meta-heuristic optimization algorithms are applied to search for the EMS’s optimal operating points, and their performance is evaluated in a real-world case study. In this study, comparative optimization algorithms are proposed to optimally identify the LPC operations. In addition, the ladder iterative technique is applied as a power-flow analysis to achieve an eventual optimal solution to the operating characteristics of an unbalanced feeder. Various initialization schemes are also applied to initialize the population. Energy efficiency is improved along with optimization problem is solved in radial power distribution system.
