摘要

With the development of transport infrastructure, especially expressways, along with the development of the transportation industry. Trucks are the main means of transporting goods in road transport. Optimizing the truck's aerodynamic shape can significantly improve engine performance, enhance fuel economy, and reduce its negative impact on the environment. The main objective of this paper is to study the effect of wind deflectors on the aerodynamic characteristics of the truck model with and without wind deflectors. For the analysis, the author used CFD software and steady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with the Realizable k-ε model to simulate. Numerical simulations performed at Reynolds numbers are based on the base model without a wind deflector (14,58 × 106). Simulation results are presented with contour plots of pressure, velocity, and a graph of pressure coefficient distribution on the truck. The truck model with a wind deflector reduces the drag coefficient (Cd) by 18.88% compared to the base model at 30 m/s. The results showed that using the wind deflector can reduce the truck’s aerodynamic drag, thereby helping to reduce fuel consumption.
