摘要

Natural hazards pose a threat to industrial operations and essential infrastructure. These repercussions can cause the so-called Natech (Natural Hazard Triggering Technological Disasters) accidents, such as emission of poisonous compounds, fire, and explosions, which potentially lead to health damage, environmental contamination, and economic losses. These Natech risks are driven by a variety of variables, including technical concerns related to the features intrinsic in Natech events, as well as governance risk and socioeconomic challenges. This chapter discusses key Natech cases in Indonesia, a country known for its high Georisk leading to high frequency of natural hazard events. These events have severely impacted industries and infrastructures, and thus capture different perceptions and approaches among related stakeholders. We suggest a robust and inclusive risk management, as well as collaboration among stakeholders, are needed to develop policy recommendations to achieve disaster resilience of industrial hazards.
