Overview of Disasters, Climate-Related Risks and Resilience Pathways for Asia–Pacific
摘要
Asia–Pacific region is engulfed with current and impending climate change impacts. With a scientific lens, this chapter highlights some dynamic risk hotspots and the need to study risks holistically. Now more than ever, the growing intensity and frequency of natural hazards are leading to cascades affecting livelihoods, health, food security and socio-economic stability of communities. In this context, the spotlight is then directed towards three key resilience-building policy pathways. These include recommendations on making risk-informed adaptation investments, developing a grassroots approach for strengthening the health sector response and finally, prioritizing technology and innovation for precise risk analytics and response mechanisms.
