Complex Disaster Risk Management in Afghanistan

The chapter focuses on the case from Afghanistan where significant part of its population has faced multiple risks particularly recently. On top of continuing high poverty levels, Taliban takeover in the summer of 2021 led to significant reduction in foreign funding, which the situation was exacerbated due to consecutive country-wide drought. The chapter will examine situations and vulnerabilities specific to food security, climate change, and conflict in Afghanistan, key interventions by the humanitarian sector, and proposes future interventions with All Hazard Approach perspective in such context.
