Multi-omics and Its Clinical Application
摘要
With the rise of the severity of diseases the need to devise a predictive mechanism that ensures early and precise detection has increased. To achieve this, it is important to have a thorough understanding about the complexity of the biological system to identify the problem correctly and administer the correct therapy. Multi-omics conducts complete evaluation of the biological entity using high-throughput technologies of the genome, epigenome, transgenome, microbiome, etc. This chapter covers the overview of omics technology and detailed elaboration on its use in various clinical elaborations. The role of various omics technology in understanding the interactions of the biological molecules have been elucidated in individual and integrated approaches. Furthermore, the advancement due to the integration of high-throughput methodologies at different levels have been discussed. The significance of multi-omics in research of different diseases and biomarker discovery along with its translational ability is mentioned here. With the importance of multi-omics in disease research, it can be used to personalize the therapeutic intervention to ameliorate the current treatments and design according to the genetic makeup of the individual. Further the methods and tools of data integration and the future direction of use of multi-omics in clinical applications have been discussed.
