Family Mesoveliidae Douglas and Scott, 1867

The fauna of the family Mesoveliidae Douglas and Scott, 1867 in the Middle East includes three species Mesovelia furcata Mulsant and Rey, 1852; Mesovelia thermalis Horváth, 1915; and Mesovelia vittigera Horváth, 1895. Two of them (M. thermalis and M. vittigera) have been recorded from Iran. Mesoveliidae has been recorded from 12 countries of the Middle East thus far: Iran, Israel, Syria, Turkey (each with two species), Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen (each with one species).
