GALEDE: GAmified LEarning Design Editor

In the context of Technology Enhanced Learning, having a user-friendly and effective Learning Design Authoring Tool is gradually becoming fundamental. There is a variety of pedagogical approaches that are proposed to replace the traditional plain learning processes. This paper encourages gamification integration in a Flipped learning-based approach. However, many existing authoring tools fall short in responding to the needs of both educators as instructional designers and learners. Particularly, numerous educators do not have technical expertise. Moreover, there is a diversity of preferences and needs that learners have as “player types”. For this purpose, this paper proposes and introduces a GAmified LEarning Design Editor (GALEDE), a novel learning design authoring tool while providing a comprehensive solution for creating engaging and interactive learning scenarios Based on Flipped learning and Gamification. GALEDE offers a user-friendly interface, customization options, collaboration activity features, and different game elements and mechanics. It empowers educators to design gamified learning scenarios that meet the needs of their learners by providing guidance and validation rules for additional support.
