Engineers, STEM Education and Multiculturality: An Online, Open Access Approach
摘要
This contribution presents a project which aims contributing to a better understanding of the engineering (E) contribution to STEM worldwide by highlighting the role of engineer’s contribution to well-known social, scientific, and technological developments, within the frame of free open access and multicultural approach. The project tries to overcome the traditional portrait of engineering history highly dominated by Western culture. Supported by the open access international digital repository MERLOT, the project provides a set of case studies that can be used for classroom assignments or open discussion issues within the frame of any STEM educational program. The engineering education project addresses its objectives through a multicultural approach, involving a variety of languages, teachers from different educational systems and cultures and diverse engineering disciplines, and the cultural diversity of the materials produced.
