ChatGPT in the Teaching and Learning Initial Programming: A Case Study

In recent times, artificial intelligence (AI) is a topic of interest and relevance. Especially ChatGPT has been the target of all attention, attracting for itself great curiosity and fear. The area of education is no exception, it is important to make a reflection on the role of AI in education, both at the level of teaching, learning and assessment processes, and at the level of new knowledge and skills. With this objective, we describe in this paper our experience in using this tool, the ChatGPT, as an aid and complement to our model of teaching and initial learning of programming. We put to the test its use in solving activities, normally used in the initial learning of programming, such as: names and variables, input/output instructions, correction of instructions and programs, parson problems and, also, the construction of programs. With this experience we are more prepared for its use and in which activities it is more suitable. And conclude that the ChatGPT, is a good tool to help students and teachers on the subject of difficulties in teaching and initial learning of programming.
