Design, Validation, and Implementation of a Competency-Based Training Program on Artificial Intelligence for Primary Education Teachers

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is gradually being introduced into education. This thesis aims to address the issue of AI competencies among Primary Education teachers, recognizing the necessity of training to effectively implement AI in the classroom. The general objective based on design, validation, and implementation of an AI competence-based training for Primary Education teachers. The hypothesis aims that the training course on AI competencies will improve the level of AI competencies among Primary Education teachers in Castilla y León. The research involves a mixed methodology. The population are Primary Education teachers of Castilla y León. The research begins with a systematic literature review to gather relevant information. Research study I involves focus groups with experts to determine the competences, objectives, and content of the training program. The program will be validated using the Delphi method. Research study II is a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest study. Follow-up interviews conduct to analyze changes in classroom practices and the use of learned tools. The preliminary results of the systematic literature review show an increase in the number of studies on this field, yet there is a lack of evidence in the studies related to Primary Education teacher´s skills in Artificial Intelligence.
