The University Mentor. Formative Model of How to Accompany the University Student

In many realities, accompaniment has become a fashion, we see it in advertising, in the world of politics, in sports, in banking, which have some slogans such as “we accompany you”; however, we cannot think that accompaniment is only that; accompaniment is an anthropological response, it is a need of the human being because we are beings in relationship, in need of others. Accompaniment does not serve to solve problems, accompaniment is to be at the side of the person who wants and needs to be accompanied. It is through accompaniment that we share a chaminus of encounters and disagreements. These are some of the bases on which the model of accompaniment proposed by the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) is based, with the figure of the mentor as a fundamental element. This study presents the case study of the UFV mentoring system.
