Accessibility and Inclusion for the Development of Open Educational Resources, a Systematic Literature Review

This paper shows a systematic literature review which main objective was to identify, according to existing studies, which are the characteristics that an Open Educational Resource should have to be more inclusive. Following a clearly defined protocol, the search strategy was carried out in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, including scientific articles published between 2018 and 2023, published in Spanish and English and closely related to the research question. All the articles selected provide elements to be considered to create OER in a more accessible and inclusive way. The first step was restricting the databases search according to exclusion criteria. Secondly, the titles and summaries of the articles collected was a key factor to identify all those that were closely related to the topic. These 16 selected studies identify as central elements: the inclusion of Creative Commons Licenses, the importance of the use of metadata and international standards, the integration of the suggestions of The World Wide Web Consortium, the integration of Universal Design for Learning. They also highlight the importance of pedagogical design and the training of teachers as creators of digital educational content.
